Intelligence Helps UWE Win ‘Go Green’ Energy Efficiency Award!

The University of the West of England are celebrating after winning the ‘Go Green’ Business award for ‘Most Improved Energy Efficiency’.

The Sports Centre Intelligent lighting upgrade by Maser Lighting and partner, Lighting Services, has exceed expectations since it was installed in December. It was one of the projects submitted by UWE for the ‘Go Green’ awards panel of judges.

The existing sports hall lighting was inefficient and lacked control. The 300 lux fixed output was not sufficient for official competitions in badminton, volleyball and basketball etc. It also fell far short of the 750 lux required for International Hockey for the England’s Women’s Team who use the sports hall for winter training.

The revolutionary LightRules networked control system by Digital Lumens means that staff members can not just choose the right lux level for the sport being played, then can even monitor the performance of the lighting system.
